NWCCU is a member owned, not-for-profit financial institution built exclusively for members and the community.
A better direction in banking.

About Northwest Community Credit Union
Northwest Community Credit Union began in 1939 with a simple idea: neighbors helping neighbors. Founded by members of Immaculate Conception Church, our credit union started as a small cooperative where people pooled their savings so fellow members could borrow when they needed it most. It was built on trust, community, and the belief that when people work together, everyone benefits.
More than eight decades later, that same philosophy continues to guide everything we do.
Today, Northwest Community Credit Union has grown into a strong, multi-million-dollar financial cooperative serving individuals, families, and businesses across our region. Our membership includes those who live or work in Lake, Will, and suburban Cook counties, along with the communities of Saint Xavier University and Special Olympics Illinois.
While our services and technology have evolved, our purpose has not changed. We remain committed to the credit union philosophy of “people helping people” by providing trusted financial guidance, competitive rates, and convenient digital banking that supports our members wherever life takes them.
At Northwest Community Credit Union, we believe financial institutions should do more than manage money. They should strengthen communities. And for more than 85 years, that’s exactly what we’ve been proud to do.
Why are Credit Unions better than Traditional Banks?
Credit Unions are cooperative, meaning they are member-owned, and profits are returned to
members through lower fees, higher savings rates, and lower loan rates.
Banks are in business to make a profit with earnings paid to stockholders.
As valued shareholders within the community, credit unions are responsible for serving local communities, organizations, and businesses. Members are given precedence over private and corporate investors.
At Northwest Community Credit Union, we are dedicated to delivering our mantra every day:
"A better direction in banking."
